Academics

Edmonds eLearning uses courseware provided by Edgenuity®

Edgenuity courses meet the needs of a range of students as they endeavor to master rigorous content and earn credits toward high school graduation. While Core courses assume readiness for grade level academic challenges, they also include targeted scaffolding for students who benefit from additional learning support.
Each semester course offers 70-90 hours of interactive direct instruction, guided practice, and integrated formative, summative, and diagnostic assessment. Learn more by clicking the link below.

Edmonds eLearning Academy offers two types of courses: Credit Recovery and Initial Credit

Credit Recovery or CR Courses are designed for students who have been previously unsuccessful in a specific course. These courses are mastery-based. Students have 6 weeks to complete the course and can move through the course at their own pace based on their understanding of the material.

Initial Credit or IC Courses are designed for students who are new to a course and/or NCAA students. These courses take approximately a semester to complete (18 weeks), but can be completed in less time if students work ahead of their course calendar.

Comprehensive, Standards-Based Scope and Sequence

Each Edgenuity online course provides a complete scope and sequence based on national and state standards including Common Core. The curriculum is organized as a warm-up, instruction, and assignment. The lessons are video based and follow the "chunking" teaching method of combining reading and active learning.

Active Learning Experiences

Edgenuity curriculum takes advantage of the power of technology to create active learning experiences that keep students attentive and engaged as they read, watch, listen, inquire, write, discuss, and manipulate. Video lessons provide students with opportunities to explore and understand new concepts, allowing each student to move at his or her own pace.

Purposeful Use of Technology

Technology is used in purposeful ways to enhance the learning process. Images, audio, video, animation, and interactive elements integrated throughout the text provide multiple representations and address different learning styles. Edgenuity also includes the ability to email, instant message, submit assignments and take notes without leaving the system. Students have the ability to translate texts in several languages and have assignments read aloud. Interactive exercises provide hands-on opportunities for students to master difficult concepts. Students have the ability to pause, rewind, and relearn information so they have a greater understanding of the materials.

Our Blended Learning Model

Edmonds eLearning Academy utilizes the quality of Edgenuity with our Highly Qualified teaching staff. We have an on-site and virtual learning centers where our students receive instruction on the concepts they have learned at home. Certified teachers instruct students using a variety of methods including the use of feedback, discussion, scaffolding, and differentiation to improve student learning and to meet students where they are academically.
All students are required to meet with their teacher(s) weekly for instructional purposes. This can take place at our on-site and virtual learning centers. Our teachers also offer seminars in their curriculum on a weekly basis for students that enjoy working collaboratively with other students. This includes current issue discussions, intensified math activities, art classes, literature talks, and writing labs.
